The use of video calling apps has become an important part of daily life around the world.
Due to the unique context in Cuba, it is important to closely monitor mobile data usage, and some apps cannot be used because they are restricted on the Island.
Therefore, knowing which video calling apps are available and how much data they consume can make a real difference.
Which video calling apps use the least data?
Some factors that can affect mobile data usage include the quality of the connection, the phone, the front camera, video resolution, or the number of people participating in the call.
How much data does each app use in a 3-minute video call?
WhatsApp: Approximately 2.5 MB per minute. In 3 minutes, that’s around 7.5 MB.
Telegram: A 3 minute video call uses between 10–12 MB.
Messenger: Data usage for 3 minutes ranges from 18 to 45 MB.
Google Meet: Tends to consume more data. Typically, a 3 minute video call may use between 15 MB and 45 MB.
Our recommendation:
If you want to use less data, we recommend Messenger.
But for better communication quality, we suggest using WhatsApp.
