What are ETECSA WiFi Zones?

WiFi Zones are public areas enabled by ETECSA that allow users to connect wirelessly to the Internet. They are available in all provinces of Cuba and can be accessed from mobile phones, tablets, and laptops.

There are currently more than 1,000 WiFi Zones across the country, located in parks, squares, hotels, airports, cultural centers, and other community spaces.

ETECSA provides an official WiFi Zone locator where you can check exact locations by province and municipality.

What do you need to connect?

To use the Internet in these areas, you need a valid Nauta account, such as:

  • Permanent Nauta account (@nauta.com.cu) — the most recommended option

  • Temporary Nauta account — prepaid cards for occasional use

  • National Nauta account (@nauta.co.cu) — only for browsing Cuban websites (.cu)

The most practical option is the permanent Nauta account, as it is rechargeable and does not expire as long as it remains active. Temporary accounts work as well, but cannot be recharged and are only valid for 30 days after first use.

How do WiFi Zones work?

Once you are inside a WiFi Zone:

  1. Turn on WiFi on your device.

  2. Connect to the WiFi_ETECSA network.

  3. The Nauta login portal will open automatically.

  4. Enter your Nauta username and password.

  5. Log in and start browsing.

Connection speed is generally stable but may be affected during peak hours due to network congestion.

International browsing cost: 12.50 CUP per hour.

What services can you use?

With a permanent Nauta account, WiFi Zones provide full Internet access. Common uses include:

  • Video calls (WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram)

  • Social media (Facebook, Instagram)

  • Google searches

  • YouTube

  • General browsing and email

For many users, WiFi Zones are the main way to communicate with family and friends abroad.

Important tips

  • Use a permanent Nauta account if you connect frequently. It is more flexible and rechargeable.

  • Always log out from the portal to avoid unnecessary balance consumption.

  • Check your balance before starting video calls or large downloads.

  • If the area is crowded, moving to another WiFi Zone may improve signal quality.

  • You can recharge your Nauta account from abroad using services like Fonoma.
