What are ETECSA WiFi Zones?

WiFi Zones are public Internet access points enabled by ETECSA in parks, tourist facilities, hotels, airports, and other public spaces. They allow users to connect to the Internet using a Nauta account.

These zones operate through the WiFi_ETECSA wireless network, available nationwide. To connect, you need an active Nauta browsing account, which can be permanent, national, or temporary.

Types of Nauta accounts that work in WiFi Zones

ETECSA offers three types of accounts for public Internet access:

1. Permanent Nauta account (international browsing) — @nauta.com.cu

This is the most recommended option because it is rechargeable, designed for continuous use, and does not expire as long as it remains active with regular recharges.

  • Rate: 12.50 CUP per hour

  • Can be recharged from within Cuba or from abroad (including through Fonoma)

  • Also works with Nauta Hogar and in browsing rooms

2. National Nauta account — @nauta.co.cu

Allows browsing only within Cuban websites (.cu domain).

  • Mainly used for national services

  • Consumes less balance

  • Does not allow full international Internet access

  • Can also be recharged from abroad using Fonoma

3. Temporary Nauta accounts (prepaid cards)

Single-use access cards, ideal for occasional users or travelers inside Cuba.

How to connect in a WiFi Zone (step by step)

  1. Go to a nearby ETECSA-enabled WiFi Zone.

  4. The Nauta captive portal will open automatically.

  5. Enter your Nauta username and password.

  6. Tap Accept to start your session.

  7. When finished, always log out from the portal to avoid balance consumption.

Once connected, you can browse normally and use your apps.

How to recharge a Nauta account for WiFi use

There are several ways to recharge permanent Nauta accounts or purchase access cards:

From within Cuba

From abroad

  • International services like Fonoma, which allow you to recharge Nauta accounts from any country.

Is a permanent or temporary account better?

Permanent Nauta account (recommended)

  • Rechargeable

  • Works in all WiFi Zones

  • Does not expire if recharged within its cycle

  • Can be recharged from abroad

  • Best option for frequent use

Temporary accounts

  • Cannot be recharged

  • Expire 30 days after first use

  • Useful for short stays or occasional access

Common troubleshooting

The Nauta portal does not appear:

My balance is consumed even when I’m not browsing:

  • This happens if you don’t log out.

  • Go to portal.nauta.cu and select Log out before disconnecting.

The connection drops frequently:

  • This may be due to congestion. Try another WiFi Zone or wait a few minutes.
